The story: I stumbled upon this item at an estate sale in the Hill Country Village area of San Antonio. The owner was in his 90s and was an structural engineering for his entire life. He had an extensive tool collection which included this saw. It immediately caught my eye and I couldn't pass it up. I hope you can cherish and pass on this piece of history!

Up for sale is a fantastic vintage Henry Disston & Sons No. 68 Dovetail / Gent's Back Saw featuring a 10-inch blade. This highly sought-after woodworking tool features a classic turned wood handle, a straight steel spine back, and a fine-toothed blade engineered for precise joinery, dovetailing, and detail work.

A standout feature of this listing is the included vintage, custom-fitted wooden blade guard. It is secured tightly by a wire tension clip, providing excellent protection for the fine teeth during storage and adding incredible character to the piece.

Condition Notes:

- Blade & Spine: The 10" blade shows a beautiful, authentic patina with minor surface oxidation and dark spotting consistent with age. The steel back spine remains straight and solid.

- Handle: The turned wooden handle is firmly attached to the shank with smooth finish wear from historic workshop use. No cracks or splits.

- Teeth: The fine tooth line is intact, though as with all vintage edge tools, it may require a light filing/sharpening depending on your workshop preferences, however, this saw is in absolute excellent sharp condition.

A beautifully illustrated early 20th-century Christian book featuring Old Testament stories and decorative artwork. This charming Edwardian-era volume has an especially beautiful illustrated and decorated cover with rich burgundy, gold, and black detailing.

Published in 1913 by The Religious Tract Society, Piccadilly. The illustrations are attributed to several notable illustrators, including Gustave Doré, Henry Courtney Selous, Charles Joseph Staniland, John Dawson Watson, Harrison Weir and others. The original work was first published by the Religious Tract Society in 1877. 

CONDITION: Antique condition with significant age-related wear. The cover shows rubbing and edge wear, and the spine has wear. The pages have age toning, foxing/staining and some discoloration. There is wear and deterioration to the endpapers and edges. Please review all photographs carefully as they are part of the description.

I discovered this at an estate sale in San Antonio, TX and it was owned by a man who had many collections of Native American items, taxidermy, minerals, and art to name a few!

This stunning print comes from the highly regarded Album of Abyssinian Birds and Mammals, published by the Field Museum of Natural History (Chicago) in 1930.

Fuertes’ work is celebrated globally for its incredible accuracy, lifelike detail, and vibrant coloration.
