Taking Great Photos

Why Photos Matter

Photos are the first thing buyers see when browsing listings. Good photos lead to more views and faster sales. You can upload up to 12 photos per listing.

Photo Tips

  • Use natural lighting whenever possible
  • Show the item from multiple angles (front, back, sides)
  • Include close-ups of details, labels, and any defects
  • Use a clean, uncluttered background
  • Avoid using filters that misrepresent colors

Do This, Not That

The same item can look worth buying or worth skipping depending on how it is shot. These are the three mistakes that cost the most sales.

The whole item in frame, so a buyer knows exactly what is for sale

Cropped so tight that the item is unrecognisable

Taking Photos on Your Phone

Open Sell on your phone and the camera comes up ready to shoot. Frame the item, tap the shutter, and each shot drops straight into your listing.

Uploading Photos

On desktop, drag and drop files into the uploader or click to browse your files. On mobile, take photos directly with your camera.

HEIC files (common on iPhones) are automatically converted to JPEG.

Using the Image Editor

Tap or click a photo to open the built-in image editor.

Crop & Zoom

Pinch (mobile) or scroll (desktop) to zoom in on details. Drag to reposition the image within the frame.

Rotate

Use the clockwise and counter-clockwise rotation buttons to fix orientation.

Background Color

Change the background color behind your image. The default is white. This is useful for items with transparent backgrounds or irregular shapes.

Save or Reset

Click Save to apply your edits, or Reset to revert to the original image.

Reordering Photos

Drag photos to reorder them in the listing. The first photo becomes the listing thumbnail that buyers see when browsing.
