What Is a BOGO Campaign?
A BOGO (Buy One, Get One) campaign rewards buyers for coming back. You create one campaign and attach it to listings. Every completed sale of those listings mints a personal discount code for that buyer, good on their next purchase from you.
The campaign itself is never typed at checkout. It is the rule that mints the rewards.
The Reward Rules
- One reward per purchase -- one completed sale, one code
- Bound to the buyer -- the code only works for the account that earned it. Forwarded codes are refused, and guest checkout can't use them
- Equal or lesser value -- the discount is capped at the price paid for the qualifying item. A 50% reward earned on a $40 purchase never takes more than $40 off
- Single use -- one redemption, then it's spent
- Your campaign listings only -- rewards redeem on the same listings the campaign covers
- It expires -- you pick the window when you create the campaign, 1 to 365 days (30 if you leave it alone)
Creating a Campaign
On the Discounts page, click "Create Coupon" and pick the BOGO preset, or set the discount type to "Buy One, Get One (BOGO)".
- Set the reward percentage (e.g., 50% off the next purchase)
- Set "Reward Valid For (Days)"
- Attach listings. Qualifying purchases and redemptions both happen on these
After a Purchase: Minting and Email
When a buyer completes a purchase of a campaign listing, the reward mints automatically. The buyer gets an in-app notification and an email with the code, the percentage, and the expiration date. Your campaign's "rewards issued" count goes up.
To redeem, the buyer enters the code in the promo code field at checkout on another of your campaign listings. The original price shows with a strikethrough and the discounted price below it.
A redemption is itself a qualifying purchase, so completing it earns the buyer their next reward. That loop is the point: BOGO is a repeat-buyer engine.
Pausing, Ending, Deleting
Pause the campaign and everything stops at once: no new rewards mint, and every outstanding code is refused at checkout until you resume. Resuming revives them all.
If the campaign's end date passes, minting stops but codes already earned stay redeemable for their full window. Deleting the campaign kills outstanding codes permanently.
Cancellations
A cancelled sale never mints -- rewards are created on completion, not payment. If a purchase that used a reward code is cancelled, the code is returned to the buyer unspent.
Tracking
- Discounts page -- each BOGO campaign row shows rewards issued and redeemed
- Discount digest email -- BOGO reward spend is reported as its own line, separate from your regular coupons
- Payout -- a redeemed reward works like any discount: the buyer pays the reduced price, and you receive that amount minus standard fees
Frequently Asked Questions
Can a buyer stack a reward with another coupon?
No. One coupon per purchase.
I changed the reward percentage. What happens to codes already out?
Nothing. Minted codes keep the percentage they were minted with; new sales mint at the new value.
Why does a code say it was issued to a different account?
The reward belongs to whoever made the qualifying purchase. Anyone else who enters it, including a guest, is refused.
Do I choose which listing the buyer redeems on?
Only by choosing the campaign's listings. Within those, the buyer picks.
